Velco is one of the Bike Venture award winners at Taipei Cycle Show
The French IoT pioneer participates in Asia's largest bicycle trade fair
Nantes, March 5th 2024 – After three intensive selection rounds with applicants from 14 countries, Velco has prevailed against tough competition and is one of the 10 deserving prize winners at The Bike Venture Programme. Organised for the first time by Taipei Cycle, this consists of the Bike Venture Summit, the Innovation Salon and the Startup & Innovation Zone.
Velco is transforming the electric bike into a smart bike. While digital networking has long been standard in the automotive industry, Velco is doing pioneering work in the bicycle industry, integrating Velco IoT (Internet of Things) solutions during the assembly of e-bikes and then connecting them to the software suite and APIs. This benefits manufacturers and brands, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), fleet operators, service companies and, ultimately, all cyclists.
Features and functions of the app:
- Locking/unlocking the bike
- Notification of suspicious movements
- Automatic sound alarm
- Remote switch-off of power supply
- Real-time GPS-tracking
- Maintenance instructions, notifications and reminders
- Real-time information: battery life, position...
- Ride statistics: kilometres travelled, average speed,...
- Recording of trip history
The devices are developed and manufactured in France. Velco already works with several French brands, including Gaya Bike, Ultima Mobility and Nakamura and has connected the woldwide largest e-bike long term rental fleet (Veligo, Paris).. In North America, Velco connects 3 e-bike brands: FUELL, Quietkat and Vvolt. Since February, Velco has also been equipping the e-cargo bikes of German brand muli cycles. Velco is an official IoT partner of Shimano and is able to connect to the Shimano EP6 and EP8 motors as well as 10 other e-drive systems (Valeo, Bafang, Ananda, Motinova, Oli, Polini…)
