Big Agnes presents the new ultralight HyperBead™ fabric
This innovative ultralight tent fabric offers outstanding waterproofing and durability without harmful chemicals.

Steamboat Springs, USA – Big Agnes, a renowned manufacturer of innovative outdoor gear, has taken a significant step toward sustainable, ultralight equipment with the introduction of its unique HyperBead™ fabric technology. HyperBead™ represents the brand's unwavering commitment to functionality, sustainability, and design. The technology is used in many of Big Agnes' most popular tents.
Ultralight redefined: Lighter, stronger, and designed for all kinds of adventures.
From day one, Big Agnes has always focused on one clear objective: to develop gear that makes outdoor adventures more comfortable, easier, and more sustainable. The introduction of HyperBead™ fabric continues this tradition. The new technology addresses the key challenges faced by outdoor enthusiasts while setting a new standard for innovative tent fabrics.
Key features:
- 25% more water-repellent: Outperforms conventional ultralight fabrics without the use of harmful chemicals. The water-repellent properties do not diminish over time.
- 6% lighter: Reduced weight with improved durability.
- Environmentally conscious: No intentionally added PFAS. No DWR or WR treatments.
HyperBead™ contains no PFAS chemicals, WR, or C0-containing coatings; which means it is far more durable and sustainable than its C6 DWR counterparts. The coating does not wash off or degrade like C6 and C0 coatings, thus not contributing to the exposure of our bodies or the environment to chemicals.
Furthermore, the coating is not only more effective, durable, and sustainable, but it also makes the fabric as a whole lighter and more resilient. In many cases, additional or thicker coatings can result in heavier, weaker fabrics, especially if they are not applied using precisely calibrated processes and methods. However, the composition and processing technique used in HyperBead™ makes the fabric stronger and lighter
HyperBead™ is being used for the first time in the following premium tents:
- Copper Spur UL
- Copper Spur UL XL
- Tiger Wall UL
- Fly Creek UL
- Tiger Wall Platinum
A continued commitment to progress:
This technology underscores Big Agnes' ongoing commitment to raising the bar for design and innovation in outdoor gear. By focusing on performance, weight reduction, and environmental responsibility, the brand continues to empower adventurers to travel further, lighter, and more sustainably.
